The last of the River Region’s summer festivals was canceled this week. “Harvest & Hops” will return in 2021.
In a member newsletter emailed out Wednesday, the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce wrote, “The festival would have taken place less than two months from now and many of the NYS guidelines/restrictions we thought would be lifted, are still in effect. So many logistical aspects go into festival planning and the decision had to be made now. The Chamber Staff met with our Events Committee as well as our event planning friends throughout WNY that plan large Fall Events (Letchworth Craft Festival – Cancelled, Ellicottville Fall Festival – Cancelled, Wyoming Apple-Umpkin Festival – Cancelled).
“We look forward to 2021 (for more than one reason!) and will make the next Lewiston Harvest & Hops Festival even better! Save the date: September 25-26, 2021.”
Restrictions related to the coronavirus led to the cancellation of the Smelt Festival and Taste of Lewiston (Chamber of Commerce events), GardenFest (Lewiston Garden Club), the Wine Festival (Niagara Wine Trail), the Lewiston Art Festival (Lewiston Council on the Arts), the Northwest Jazz Festival (Chamber of Commerce, Jazz Festival Committee) and Niagara County Peach Festival (Lewiston Kiwanis Club).
Artpark & Company also shelved its “Tuesdays in the Park” concert series, but added a series of activities including “The Art of Walking” and a drive-in movie series. It resumed the annual “Music in the Woods” programming over the weekend.
