The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens announced its annual poinsettia and railway exhibit will run Nov. 29 through Jan. 5. It also announced the annual Santa’s workshop event and a new terrarium make-it, take-it workshop for kids will take place Dec. 14. A “BuffaLove Dollar Admission Day” will round out the fun on Dec. 27 to celebrate the holiday season.

The whole family can enjoy the Botanical Gardens’ annual holiday tradition. The poinsettia and railway exhibit includes more than 1,000 poinsettias, holiday decorations, and some playful surprises. A garden railway display – made possible by the Western New York Garden Railway Society – complements the surrounding poinsettias.

These exhibits are on display from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. daily. (The Botanical Gardens will be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 24 and 31. It will be closed to the public on Dec. 25.)

Santa Claus will visit the Botanical Gardens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 14 for Santa’s workshop. Holiday-themed hands-on activities and a self-guided scavenger hunt will be included with Santa’s workshop. Photo prints with Santa will also be available for $5 each.

Admission tickets to the poinsettia and railway exhibit and Santa’s workshop are included with admission to the Botanical Gardens: $12.50 for adults, $11 for seniors (62-plus), $11 for students (13-plus), $7 for kids 3-12, or free for members and children under the age of 2. Tickets can be purchased online at buffalogardens.com or at the door.

Children will have the opportunity to make a special holiday gift for a loved one at the terrarium make-it, take-it workshop on Dec. 14. This hands-on workshop will allow kids to make a home for baby tropical plants in a low-maintenance, enclosed terrarium. This workshop is offered at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. and is $20 for the general public or $15 for members. Register online at buffalogardens.com or by calling 716-827-1584, ext. 730.

Stop by the Botanical Gardens during the holiday break on Dec. 27 for a “BuffaLove Dollar Admission Day” from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Admission is only $1 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

The Botanical Gardens will be closed Nov. 25-28 to set up the poinsettia and railway exhibit – and to create some holiday magic!
