2 hearings seek input on services, programs from seniors, program managers, caregivers

The Erie County Department of Senior Services has announced two public hearings to be held in order to seek community input regarding unmet needs of the county’s older adult population, existing programs and services offered by the department, and to solicit comments and ideas on how to better serve the county’s older population.

“The annual public hearings are a good way for residents to speak directly to department personnel, give feedback on what works and what doesn’t in senior programs, and add their voice to the discussion about how those programs should work in the future,” said Commissioner of Senior Services David Shenk. “We are encouraging seniors, caregivers and family, program managers, and anyone with an interest in senior services to attend one of the meetings and join the conversation.”

Public hearings are set for 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Town of Concord Senior Center, 40 Commerce Drive, Springville (716-592-2741); and from 12:30-2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Schiller Park Senior Center, 2057 Genesee St., Buffalo (716-895-2727).

Walk-ins are welcome at each site. Those interested in attending are asked to register to speak and/or reserve a lunch at least two days prior to the event. Open comment is encouraged once registered guests have finished their remarks.

Individuals unable to attend can submit written comments to: Senior Services Public Hearing, 95 Franklin St., Room 1341, Buffalo, NY 14202, or online at [email protected].
