Lewiston Explorers to hold open house

The Lewiston Police Explorers will hold an open house at from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Lewiston Police Department, 4059 Creek Road (Lewiston-Porter campus).

Those ages 14 to 20 and interested in joining this program to learn more about law enforcement and criminal justice are encouraged to stop by. During the open house, presenters will go over what will be covered throughout the year, a timeline, what to expect, and hear from some of the current Explorers. Food and drinks will be provided.

The program reviews topics including law enforcement, criminal justice, New York state penal law, criminal procedures, vehicle and traffic laws, defensive tactics, cuffing techniques, verbal judo, public speaking and leadership skills. Those who meet the credentials will be able to do ride along with LPD officers.
