Tribune Editor

Where do I even begin.

I’ve had my position at the Tribune for almost two years now, and let me tell you, I’ve loved every second of it.

It’s with a bit of sadness, I am reporting to you that I will no longer be the Tribune editor as of Friday. Sometimes in life, big opportunities come your way, and, although you might not want to leave something you’ve built, you must take leaps of faith. And that’s what I’m doing.

I will still be in the area and, of course, will continue writing in my spare time. So you’ll still likely see me out and about at games, or in the community.

This was an incredibly tough decision for me to make. Like I said, I’ve grown to love the paper and the communities I cover.

On Aug. 18, 2017, the great staff at Niagara Frontier Publications opened their arms to a 21-year-old fresh out of college, handed me this big project and told me to take it and run with it.

It’s funny how quick life changes. When I got this position, I received a phone call while I was at my summer job cutting lawns. So, one day I was landscaping, the next I was writing.

I can’t thank NFP enough for welcoming me into their family. They also showed their trust in me by handing a newspaper over to a 21-year-old. I’ll miss all the great times we had.

I also have to thank everyone at the Niagara-Wheatfield School District. Man, what a ride it has been these past two years.

Covering all the sports and events going on at the high school and such were just absolutely phenomenal. I got the chance to cover some great teams, great athletes, great students and even better people.

I never thought I’d hear my name chanted at a sporting event, but because of all of you it happened, and I will never forget it.

Through the wins, the losses and everything else, you all showed me a sense of appreciation for what I do. And I did everything for you guys. I know the joy of seeing your name in the paper, and I’m just happy I was able to give you some clippings for the scrapbook, something to post on social media, and really, just smile about.

The state title runs, the cause games, the homecoming night football games, prom, the vigil, the half court shot opportunities, the interviews, the jokes and more – I’ll never forget them, and I’m sad it’s come to an end. But always remember, Yagabomb is always there for you.

I can’t thank the readers enough for appreciating the product I put out every Thursday. Behind the scenes, it’s been a lot of sleepless night, energy drinks and self-motivation put forth towards this paper. And it’s going to be different for me not having the same routine.

Lastly, I guess I will say, this isn’t goodbye. I will still be around freelancing, covering games and so on and so forth. I will be in the community, because all of you have showed me the strong sense of community throughout Wheatfield, NT and the Town of Niagara. Everyone really looks out for each other, and it’s so encouraging to see and to be a part of.

So, like I said, it’s not goodbye, but see you soon.

Thank you for everything, and see you around.
