Open house set for 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Porter Town Hall

The New York State Department of Transportation will host a public information meeting from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at the Porter Town Hall, located at 3265 Creek Road, Youngstown. The informal, open house meeting will cover a proposed project to replace three bridges located on NY Route 93, Youngstown-Lockport Road, and NY Route 425, Cambria-Wilson Road, over Twelvemile Creek and branches of Twelvemile Creek, in the towns of Porter and Wilson.

The session will feature displays about the project and provide the public with an opportunity to discuss it with NYSDOT representatives, who will be available to receive comments and answer individual questions. No formal presentation will be made.

The purpose of this project is to replace three bridges that were built between 1921-32, with new bridges in the same locations. The new bridges will have appropriate drainage and pedestrian accessibility, and will provide a service life of 75 years.

The project, scheduled to begin next spring with completion in fall 2021, would utilize off-site detours for traffic during the construction of the three bridges. Strict timeframes to complete each bridge will be included in the contract to expedite construction and minimize disruption for local businesses and residences.
