KeyBank will once again this year sponsor the Chalk Walk competition, which is presented by Lewiston Council on the Arts.

The colorful event is the highlight of the Lewiston Art Festival, and features teams of talented high school art students from across Western New York. Inspired by a different theme each year, teams design and then execute spectacular murals on the streets as they compete for prize money, trophies and bragging rights for their school.

The theme this year is "Peace, Love & Chalk,” an homage to the 50th anniversary of Woodstock and the “Summer of Love.”

Now in its 35th year, the competition will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the intersection of Center and Fifth streets. “Arts are Key” prizes will be awarded to the top finishers.

“For years, the Chalk Walk has been a wonderful showcase for creativity during the annual Lewiston Arts Festival,” said Gary Quenneville, KeyBank regional executive and Buffalo market president. “We are thrilled to support this family event, which has become part of the community fabric of Niagara County and Western New York.”

Chalk Walk applications are still being accepted. Call 716-754-0166 or email [email protected] for more information.
