Elder Law Day 2019 brings free legal advice, information on aging for seniors, caregivers

Free event moves to Millennium Hotel on Thursday, June 6, with information to assist older adults, caregivers in long-term care decisions; Free parking, refreshments, box lunch available

The Erie County Department of Senior Services and the Center for Elder Law and Justice have announced Elder Law Day 2019 will be held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the Millennium Hotel, 2040 Walden Ave, Buffalo (next to the Galleria Mall).

Now in its 19th year, Elder Law Day provides information to assist older adults in making informed choices about their health, financial well-being, and long-term health care needs. Seniors, caregivers and family members can choose to attend up to three attorney-led seminars on topics such as guardianship, elder justice, planning for adult children with disabilities, patient rights, power of attorney and the role of a health care proxy.

Guests at Elder Law Day also have an opportunity to pre-register for a free, 15-minute consultation with an attorney. In addition, an array of community agencies will be on hand to share their information and expertise on available services and will also have baskets to raffle off for guests.

The sales-free event is open to the public. Registered guests receive a canvas bag with event information, raffle tickets and a light lunch. Guests can register online at erie.gov/ELD or by calling 716-858-6864. Registration closes June 2.
