North Tonawanda Common Council candidates Bob Brennan and Adam Dickey have partnered with Empire United Soccer to announce an Earth Day cleanup of Gratwick Park in North Tonawanda.  The cleanup is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 22.

Empire United Soccer is a nonprofit organization that is a combination of three Western New York soccer leagues that promotes player development through holistic means.  The club’s primary function is to provide an environment that fosters personal, academic, athletic and soccer-specific growth for each individual player.

“I’m very happy to be a part of this event,” said 1st Ward Alderman candidate and local ironworker Adam Dickey. “This event is going to be a great representation of how small improvements can have a big impact on our community and our environment.”

Brennan and Dickey said they believe this is an excellent opportunity to ease the burden on the NT Parks Department, while at the same time helping to beautify North Tonawanda’s waterfront park.

“What better way to celebrate Earth Day than by giving back to the Earth and to our community,” said Alderman-at-Large candidate and Gratwick Hose President Bob Brennan. “Empire United Soccer is all about teamwork and that’s what North Tonawanda needs on all fronts.”

The public is encouraged to participate.
