Informational meeting on NT shoreline restoration project

Thu, Feb 7th 2019 02:15 pm

The Buffalo Niagara Waterkeepers recently submitted a grant application to restore a portion of the shoreline at the North Tonawanda Botanical Gardens to a more natural state in order to improve water quality, create valuable habitat, and enhance recreation access.

The Niagara Greenway Commission has determined the project to be consistent with the Greenway plan, and the Greenway Ecological Standing Committee approved funding for the project in December 2018. Information on the shoreline restoration project will be available at the next meeting of the North Tonawanda Botanical Garden Organization.

Residents can find out how they can join the organization and assist with the project at the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13. Meetings are held in the large conference room.

The North Tonawanda Botanical Garden Organization is a 501(c) non-profit formed to guide and participate in the restoration of the Botanical Gardens.
