Majewski ranks up to Eagle Scout

Recently, Benjamin Majewski, a freshman at Niagara-Wheatfield High School, reached the rank of Eagle Scout.

To achieve Eagle rank, a Scout must complete 21 merit badges, of which 10 are required and focused on specific life lessons. To date, Majewski has earned 37 merit badges. Additionally, a Scout must complete an Eagle project, which benefits a religious, school or community organization. In Majewski’s case, he organized and lead Scouts, leaders and parents of BSA Troop 824 in building park benches for the developing Cambria Town Park. Majewski was able to get the project funded though donations of supplies attained from Gui’s Lumber, Home Depot, 84 Lumber and Valu Home Center.

Nationwide, the average age of Eagle rank honorees is around 17. Majewski achieved this at 14 years old. Around 4 percent of Scouts reach eagle rank.

In his time as a Scout, Majewski has shown leadership within his troop and held positions of scribe, troop guide, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader and senior patrol leader.

Majewski enjoys mining for crystals at the troop’s recent trip to Herkimer Diamond Mines and especially the troops’ summer camping trip. Majewski added he plans to continue Scouting and hopes to become an adult leader someday.
