Northgate Health Care Facility helps out homeless

Thu, Oct 18th 2018 12:15 pm
Residents at Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda joined together with volunteers from Buffalo Dream Weavers to bag lunches for the homeless. As a team, they were able to make 100 lunches, which were distributed through the Magdalene Project in Niagara Falls. Everyone had a wonderful time working to support this great cause.
Buffalo Dream Weavers is a group of friends and volunteers who do monthly special projects and ongoing supply drives to benefit the homeless and people with low incomes. "We are so grateful to the residents and employees at Northgate for their help, and to Northgate for donating the food and supplies," said Samantha Christmann, a founding BDW member. "Thanks to Northgate's volunteers, we were able to accomplish what would have taken us several hours more to do on our own."

BDW's signature event, "Warm It Forward," will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 3. The public is invited to seal warm winter accessories (such as socks, hats and gloves) in Ziplock bags, and join to hang them outside at Friends of Night People, 394 Hudson St. in Buffalo; or on the fence at the corner of Broadway and Bailey in Buffalo. Anyone who is in need of warm winter gear can then pass by and take any items they need, free of charge.
