County clerk fosters awareness within auto bureau
Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns and the Erie County Office for the Disabled will hold a special disability awareness outreach day from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Erie County Auto Bureau (Eastern Hills Mall, 4545 Transit Road - use the cinema entrance), Clarence.
Individuals with disabilities and their families will be able to obtain state-issued picture identification through the Erie County Auto Bureau and be assisted with other matters pertaining to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Kearns said, "Having a family member and many friends in the disability community, the importance of these events is emphasized by many voices. Raising awareness and assisting those in the disabled community is a priority of the clerk's office."
The Erie County Office for the Disabled will also be on hand to circulate information and provide a thorough understanding of how the county can assist with identifying opportunities and services available to all residents who are disabled and their family members.
Those interested in obtaining a driver's license, an enhanced license or a non-driver identification are required to bring the following documents as proof of identification: original birth certificate (or certified copy) and Social Security card. A complete listing of required documentation can be found at www.erie.gov/clerk/autobureau or by calling the Erie County Auto Bureau call center at 716-858-7450.
