On Thursday, Aug. 30, Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello will sponsor a blood drive between 2-6 p.m. at the Lewiston Fire Co. No. 1 hall at 145 N. Sixth St.
The drive is part of the American Red Cross's summer campaign to collect blood from people with A, B and O blood types. Hospitals often run short of these three main blood types during the summer months. Donors may call 1-800-REDCROSS to schedule an appointment, but walk-ins are always welcome.
"It's a privilege to sponsor this summer blood drive that will save countless lives in New York state," Morinello said. "Donating blood is one of the most generous and life-changing things we can do to help our local communities, and I'm always honored to partner with the American Red Cross at its local events. Blood is always in high demand in our state and not nearly enough eligible donors participate in their local blood drives. I encourage all eligible donors in Lewiston to come out with their friends and family to donate and help save lives."
Morinello represents the 145th Assembly District, which consists of parts of Erie and Niagara counties. For more information, visit his official website.
