Lew-Port Academy to host summer fundraiser

The Lewiston-Porter High School Academy of International Business and Finance invites all to discover more about the its offerings during a summer fundraiser from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, on the grounds of the Youngstown Yacht Club.
That evening, the Lewiston-Porter Academy and YYC will present the "Creating Pathways to the Future Business Blender," an all-new event open to the business community and residents of the River Region. There, visitors will discover all there is know about the academy - a school-within-a-school program designed for high school students who seek to broaden their knowledge in the growing and vital area of international business.
Structured to provide students the necessary skills to be successful in their future academics and careers, the program includes participation in a 120-hour compensated internship, as well as an international experience that often includes travel to a foreign country. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded up to 15 college credits.
Past graduates and current members of the academy are expected be attend this event to further discuss the program and the professional skills they acquired as part of their experience.
Tickets are on sale for $20 pre-sale and are $25 at the door. The evening social includes dinner from the grill at the YYC plus a cash bar. Also offered will be a wine and basket auction, a 50/50 draw and other prizes.
Academy sponsorship opportunities are now available at the gold, sliver and bronze levels, with all proceeds going to support programs and internships. Sponsorship includes free tickets to the blender, recognition at the event and a sail on Lake Ontario for donor and guests, courtesy of YYC members who are volunteering their time and sailboats for the program.
