On Saturday, Thomas Walsh, an Atlantic Coast Conference champion from the University of Virginia, won the 60th annual Porter Cup at Niagara Falls Country Club.
Walsh, 22, fired a 2-under 68 in the title clinching round for an overall score of 11-under (269). His previous rounds included a 69 in the opening round, 65 in round two, and 67 in round three. The 60th Porter Cup was the second of Walsh's career.
With the win, Walsh received an exemption to play in the 2019 LECOM Health Challenge at Peek'n Peak Resort - a Web.com Tour event. The Web.com Tour is just a step under the Professional Golfer Association Tour.
Following Walsh, Tyler Strafaci of Davie, Florida; Blake Windred of Australia; and Ben Schlottman of Advance, North Carolina finished tied for second with scores of 8-under.
Grand Island residents James Blackwell and Kevin Borowicz finished the four-day event with scores of 12-over and 16-over, respectively.
