According to the AAA, 47 million Americans will take to the road between July 3-8. Erie County police agencies will increase DWI patrols during the holiday week, joining law enforcement across the country in the national 4th of July DWI Crackdown.
In the first six months of 2018, 1,327 drivers have been arrested for Impaired Driving in Erie County. Those convicted of DWI are barred from visiting Canada and can expect to pay an average of $10,000 in fines and other costs. Motorists are advised to make arrangements for a safe ride home if celebrating.
