Summer is for families at Artpark, where afternoons are filled with creative hands-on discovery and live performances for all ages. During the month of July, Artpark will host "Free Family Saturdays" from noon until 4 p.m. in the Artpark Amphitheater. The event has free admission and free parking.
A variety of "Make and Take"-themed workshops are available at each and every installment of "Family Saturdays." Weekly events include:
July 7 - "Art of Light": Artworks that glow and grow.
July 14 - "Art of the Superhero": Create and become your own superhero.
July 21 - "Art in Water": Get wet and make art.
July 28 - "Art of Winter": Bring back the snow.
"Free Family Saturdays" include weekly self-directed play spaces: costume closets, "Face Space," "Paint Space," "Sand Mountain," "Clay Hand-Building" and "Pottery Wheel" (pottery is guided by three instructors. Must be 4-feet tall to throw on the wheel).
N.U.R.T. (Niagara University Repertory Theatre) will also perform every Saturday at 1-3 p.m. on the Key Stage. N.U.R.T. is a Western New York tradition for nearly 40 years. This energetic bunch brings well-loved children's tales to life, delighting audiences of all ages. Performances are about 40 minutes long and take place on the Key Stage (stage nearest the costume closet and face paint area).
Visit artpark.net for more information on "Free Family Saturdays" and other family events coming to Artpark this summer.
