Children's mental health clinic in Niagara Falls set to open this summer
New Directions Youth and Family Services announces the hiring of Carl E. Turner Jr., LMSW, as director of the organization's new Children's Clinic of Western New York. The clinic is set to open this July in Niagara Falls.
The Children's Clinic of WNY will provide outpatient mental health counseling and psychiatry services for children and adolescents ages 5-21 and families living in Erie or Niagara counties. The clinic will offer high-quality, culturally competent therapy utilizing a solution-focused, trauma-informed approach. Services are designed to assist children experiencing abuse, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, family changes, school difficulties and trauma.
As director, Turner will manage clinicians who work collaboratively with families to develop individualized, strengths-based treatment plans to achieve positive outcomes.
Turner returned to New Directions in 2017 when he took over as the health home care management supervisor for Niagara County. Previously, Turner worked at the Wyndham Lawn Residential Home in Lockport (2011-14).
"We are pleased to have Carl E. Turner Jr., assume responsibility as director of the New Directions Children's Clinic of Western New York", said James Coder, CEO of New Directions. "Carl continues his career at New Directions and brings expertise as a clinician and manager. He has a deep commitment to serving the needs of children and making a difference in the lives of those in Erie and Niagara counties."
Turner received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Buffalo State College and a master's degree in social work from the University at Buffalo. A U.S. Air Force veteran, Turner is currently a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
