Edward Town student helping those in need

Mariah Rice, a seventh-grader at Edward Town Middle School, has grown up being a helping hand to those in need. Along with her family, Rice has helped plant vegetables for a community garden and has participated in multiple holiday food drives and school supply drives. It doesn't end there. She also helped with an oil change event to provide free oil changes to those in need.
Recently, Rice noticed some of her schoolmates in need of daily personal care essentials and knew she wanted to help. Rice came up with and presented the idea of a "Care Closet" to her school's student council committee to tackle the problem. ETMS Student Council then ran a hygiene drive asking for donations of everyday hygiene products such as shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, and other items. Because of Rice's caring heart, ETMS now has a "Care Closet" to help students who may be in need of basic hygiene essentials.
