After a thorough prequalification process, Councilwoman, Bev Kinney, team leader of Solarize Grand Island, has announced Solar by CIR is the designated solar installer to work with residents throughout the Solarize Grand Island campaign.
Residents and businesses that sign up for solar installations by the fall deadline will be able to take advantage of group rates below market prices. Historically, solarize campaigns can lower the cost of solar 10 to 20 percent, according to a press release from Solarize Grand Island.
Jeff Pedro, chief financial officer and an owner of Solar by CIR stated, "We are delighted to be a part of the Solarize Grand Island campaign. Solar by CIR has a 40-year history of electrical services. CIR Electrical Construction Corp. has made the quantum leap into renewable energies with the creation of a division within itself dedicated to solar energy, now branded Solar by CIR. Solar by CIR has the infrastructure to complete project types ranging from residential, commercial, industrial and community solar projects. Solar by CIR currently has an installed capacity of over 15 MW. Regardless of electrical usage, site, or budget, Solar by CIR has strategic financing partners that can help offer a vast variety of renewable energy solutions. Whether you require upgraded energy efficient lighting or an entire power system with backup generators, CIR's staff of NABCEP certified professionals can provide you with the services needed."
Solarize Grand Island is a program intended to make investing in solar power easier and more affordable for local residents and businesses. Residents and business owners can learn about the program, talk to local installer, and find out if solar is the right fit for them. New York State's Energy Research and Development Authority helps make implementing solar easier and more affordable by supporting locally-organized community driven campaigns aimed at getting a critical mass of area homes and businesses to invest in solar.
NYSERDA, a public benefit corporation, offers objective information and analysis, innovative programs, technical expertise, and funding to help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, save money, and use renewable energy. The Town of Grand Island has been working to complete high-impact actions associated with NYSERDA's Clean Energy Communities initiative, and the Solarize Grand Island campaign will help Grand Island Achieve NYSERDA's Clean Energy Community designation while making solar energy more accessible to Grand Islanders. The Solarize Grand Island launch will also include other options to conserve energy, which will include vendor tables that will give out information on community solar options with the local Solar Park, BlueRock and PUSH Green, which is an organization that works with homeowners to do energy assessments.
Kinney and vice-leaders, Councilwoman Jennifer Baney and Deputy Supervisor Jim Sharpe said they are excited by the enthusiasm for the upcoming campaign and are grateful to have a dedicated committee of community leaders and residents committed to clean energy initiatives. They add that all residents are welcome to come to the launch and learn about solar, meet the installer and sign up for a free evaluation. The launch will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on May 12 in the courtroom of Grand Island Town Hall, 2255 Baseline Road.
