On Saturday morning, children and families gathered at the Town of Wheatfield Youth Center, as the town's Recreation Department put on their annual Easter party.
Kids were greeted with snacks, a bounce house, Easter egg hunts, crafts, and also got an opportunity to take photos with the fan-favorite Easter bunny.
In all, Recreation Director Mike Ranalli said he was pleased with the turnout for Saturday's event.
"We had over 70 kids pass through, which is a perfect number. There were no long lines to wait to participate in any of our crafts, games and bounce house," he said.
The staff of the Recreation Department also spent countless hours working to prepare for the event and Ranalli said their efforts did not go unseen.
"The turnout means a lot to us. My staff takes pride in being creative and keeping our parties fresh. They always go above and beyond and it shows with the joy these kids have while they're at the party."
On a personal note, Ranalli said one of his favorite parts about the party was the ice cream sundae bar, because "The kids absolutely loved it."
The department will stay busy as the weather becomes a bit brighter. Ranalli said the group is gearing up for its baseball and softball leagues, as well as its summer camp.
"We just ended our baseball and softball registrations. I haven't tallied up the final totals but we already beat last year's numbers, so I'm very encouraged with the upcoming season, and I can't wait to get going.
"Monday also opens up registrations for our sixth annual summer camp. This program has exploded over the last few years and it'll fill up quick. Now we just need the weather to break. We'll unquestionably be ready when it does," he said.
