The Lewiston Community Lions provided needed toiletries for this year's "Holiday Hero" program through the American Red Cross.
Lion Carissa Cecconi constructed comfort care packages that will be distributed to veterans and their families during various homeless stand downs, valor days and other military fairs and gatherings across 26 counties this holiday season.
This is the third year Carissa has chaired the project for the Lewiston Community Lions, gathering and assembling the kits for delivery.
Each comfort care kit contains a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, comb, shaving cream, razors, nail clippers and packs of gum. The Western and Central New York region provides these personal care items to veterans in lieu of the "Holiday Mail for Heroes" program.
For more information on the "Holiday Heroes" program, contact Regional Director, Military Programs and International Services James Love at 585-241-4418 or Specialist Lisa Taibi at 716-878-2371.
