GNBC's 50th family-fun 'Nutcracker' comes to life

Fri, Nov 3rd 2017 03:25 pm
Some of the Greater Niagara Ballet Company cast members, artistic director Beverley Feder and Assistant Director Julie Traver recently took advantage of some beautiful weather to take a photo for the upcoming 50th anniversary production of "The Nutcracker."
The annual holiday favorite will be on stage Friday, Dec. 8, and Saturday, Dec. 9, at Niagara Falls High School Performing Arts Center, 4455 Porter Road. The GNBC's "Nutcracker" showcases both local and Canadian dancers and guest artists in a ballet set to the direction of artistic director Feder.
The GNBC has, with the support of the members of the company and community, been putting on a yearly holiday production of "The Nutcracker" for 50 seasons. Tickets can be purchased online at www.greaterniagaraballetcompany.org.
The GNBC relies on donations from the community to put on productions to help area youth grow in the arts. The company will hold two holiday fundraisers to help offset costs. For the little ones, "The Sugarplum Fairy Breakfast" will be held Saturday morning, Dec. 2, at Antonio's Restaurant, Conference & Banquet Center. Adults are invited to try their hand at "Trivia Night" on Saturday, Nov. 18, at The Como Restaurant.
Tickets for these events also can be purchased online at www.greaterniagaraballetcompany.org.
