NCCC to hold Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 9

Niagara County Community College will host its Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, on the Sanborn campus at the Veterans Memorial Park, 3111 Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn. The event is free and open to the public.
The annual ceremony will include opening remarks by NCCC Interim President William Murabito. The keynote speaker for this year's ceremony will be Maj. Joseph Pulvino, officer in charge of the Emergency Medical Team at the 865th Combat Support Hospital at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. Pulvino enlisted into the U.S. Army 91B Combat Medic program in January 1982. He was commissioned in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps as a first lieutenant. Pulvino has had several assignments throughout his military career including a staff nurse in the ICU at Brooks Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and chief nurse with the 1982nd FST to FOB Shank in Afghanistan.
U.S. Army veteran Collin O'Donnell, who is majoring in criminal justice at NCCC, will speak on behalf of NCCC veteran students. O'Donnell served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a combat engineer bridge crewmember from 2013-16.
Andrew LaPlante, a U.S. Army veteran and an NCCC liberal arts math and science major, will serve as master of ceremonies. Members of the Niagara Falls Air Base Honor Guard will also participate in the ceremony.
Refreshments will be served immediately after the ceremony in the Notar Administration Building lobby on the Sanborn campus.
