Inaugural season opens Oct. 17 with photographer Steve Winter; tickets for 'On the Trail of Big Cats' on sale now
"National Geographic Live," a new three-speaker series at Kleinhans Music Hall, kicks off at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 with famed wildlife photographer Steve Winter's presentation, "On The Trail of Big Cats."
Winter, a National Geographic photographer since 1991, has been named BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year and BBC Wildlife Photojournalist of the Year. He was a two-time winner of Picture of the Year International's Global Vision Award and won first prize in the nature story category from World Press Photo in 2008 and 2014. His film with Bertie Gregory, "Mission Critical: Leopards at the Door," continues to run on Nat Geo WILD.
Winter lectures globally on photography, big cats and conservation issues, and, in his program "On the Trail of Big Cats," he shares stories about traveling the world to photograph cats and educating audiences on the importance of conservation.
The 75-90-minute presentations will be given in the Main Hall at Kleinhans, featuring commentary, vivid images projected in high definition on the 24-foot screen, and a question-and-answer period with Winter.
Winter's is the first of three presentations this season. On Feb. 20, adventurist Hilaree O'Neill recounts her harrowing experiences leading a team to the summit of Myanmar's Hkakabo Razi. On May 8, photographer Ami Vitale shows crowds her world through her eyes, looking back on her work in more than 90 countries in war and peace.
Tickets for individual presentations and season tickets are on sale now. Single tickets are $15 for students and $35 for all others. A $75 VIP option admits one for a meet-and-greet with the speaker and guarantees one a premium seat.
Season tickets are available now. The cost is $40 for students and $95 for all others. A VIP experience is also available for $195 and includes guaranteed premium seating. Each event takes place in the Main Hall of Kleinhans Music Hall, 3 Symphony Circle, Buffalo. For tickets and information, call 716-885-5000 or visit www.kleinhansbuffalo.org.
