32 lucky New Yorkers win $50,000 third-place prizes
Powerball fever was in full force throughout New York for Wednesday's $758.7 million jackpot, with $23.7 million in New York sales for the single day. While the jackpot winning ticket wasn't sold in New York, dozens of New Yorkers are now significantly richer.
Two $1,000,000 second-prize tickets were sold in Manhattan, and one was sold in Cheektowaga. The three $1,000,000 winning tickets from last night's drawing matched the first five numbers selected. The lucky second-prize winning tickets were sold at:
  • Hudson News at 628 8th Ave., Manhattan
  • Chunnu News at 700 3rd Ave., Manhattan
  • Kwik Fill at 3724 Harlem (at Cleveland), Cheektowaga
In addition to the three second-prize winners, 32 New Yorkers won the $50,000 third prize by matching the first four numbers drawn plus the Powerball. The third-prize winning tickets were sold at:
Buffalo Area:
  • 7-Eleven at 1650 Kensington, Buffalo
  • Tops Markets at 3201 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park
The winning numbers for the Powerball drawing were: 6 - 7 - 16 - 23 - 26 and (Powerball) 4.
Powerball costs $2 per game. To play Powerball, players choose five numbers from a field of 1 to 69, plus one Powerball number from a separate field of 1 to 26.
Winning Powerball tickets at all prize levels may be cashed up to one year from the date of the drawing.
The New York Lottery continues to be North America's largest and most profitable lottery, contributing $3.27 billion in fiscal year 2016-17 to help support education in New York. The contribution represents approximately 14 percent of total state education aid to local school districts.
