Removable launch area replaces old dirt ramp that had been used by kayak, canoe enthusiasts
The Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry has announced the completion of a new kayak launch at Ellicott Creek Park. Located at the corner of Niagara Falls Boulevard and South Ellicott Creek Road across Ellicott Creek from the main entrance to the park, the launch is in an area that has long been a hotspot for kayak and canoe enthusiasts.
"The new kayak launch is ready to go, and is in a spot that's already well-known to park users who like to take to the water to see the beauty of our parks," said Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Forestry Daniel J. Rizzo. "It's a lot better than the dirt-launching area that had been used, and has plenty of nearby parking along with a restroom."
The launch will be removed in late fall and reinstalled in the spring each year.
