The Niagara Falls Community Development Department is seeking outdoor winter activity proposals for three downtown surface parking lots, for the winter 2017-18 season, via request for proposal:
•Lot 1: First Street and Rainbow Boulevard (adjacent to the Niagara Falls Visitor Center)
•Lot 2: Third Street (adjacent to the Niagara Falls Conference Center)
•Lot 3: Third and Niagara Streets (adjacent to the Sheridan Hotel)
Preference will be given to any proposal that creates outdoor public ice skating.
"Ice skating in downtown Niagara Falls is a proud part of our community's holiday tradition. We look forward to creating a partnership that brings ice skating back here, creating family-friendly fun for our locals, and a reason for visitors to check us out in the offseason," Niagara Falls Community Development Director Seth Piccirillo said.
Through the RFP, due Sept. 15, the City of Niagara Falls is welcoming interested and qualified seasonal outdoor event providers, with experience in events management/hosting, to respond. Selected operators will manage, operate and maintain the event space in accordance with a formal contractual agreement.
Proposals may include winter events from December 2017 to March 2018, but must guarantee events will occur on Dec. 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17, 2017.
Niagara Falls Community Development is working with a wide range of partners to create a schedule of holiday events focused on the first three weekends of December. Partners include Destination Niagara USA (formerly Niagara Tourism and Convention Corp.); the Niagara Police Athletic League; The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls; Old Falls Street; LiveNF; Niagara Falls Culinary Institute; New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation; USA Niagara; the Sheraton Hotel; the Downtown Niagara Falls Business Association; the Niagara Falls city clerk's office; the Niagara Hub; the Niagara Falls Tourism Advisory Board; Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino; and the Hard Rock Cafe, Niagara Falls USA.
