In support of community protection services, New York State Sen. Rob Ortt on Monday presented the Miller Hose Fire Co. with a $12,500 check to purchase new equipment. Ortt secured the funding through this year's state budget.
The volunteer fire company is using the funding to replace an aging hose on one of its fire trucks. Miller Hose is also purchasing a new set of protective gear, including a fire-resistant coat and pants.
The Miller Hose Fire Co. provides fire and EMS services for the Niagara County Town of Newfane, and assists Barker, Wilson, the Town of Hartland and the hamlets of Olcott, Wrights Corners, Appleton and Burt.
