The Breast Cancer Network of WNY is sponsoring its first "Strike Out Breast Cancer Walk & Ballgame" event on Saturday, July 29. The occasion will start with a pre-game party, which will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot of WNY Imaging Group, 144 Genesee St. The pre-game party will be followed by a one-mile awareness walk to Coca Cola Field.
Walkers can enjoy that evening's Buffalo Bisons baseball game. All breast cancer survivors will receive a free ticket to the game courtesy of the Buffalo Bisons.
"Unfortunately, too many women in WNY are impacted by breast cancer. Our organization works to support these women by providing programming that can help them from diagnosis to survivorship" BCN Executive Director Rob Jones said. "We are hosting this walk to raise awareness of all the support we have to offer and to raise funds that enable our programming. We've collaborated with a number of local businesses that are supporting the walk and we are really hoping to make this an annual family-friendly event that WNYers can get involved with and support a great cause."
There are different ways to be involved with "Strike Out Breast Cancer." For a complete list of options, or to register, visit http://www.bcnwny.org/strike-breast-cancer-walk/.
BCN is also looking for sponsors, day-of volunteers and basket raffle donations for this event. Those interested can call 716-706-0060.
The Breast Cancer Network of WNY is a local, independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to the education, support and advocacy for breast cancer patients and survivors of WNY. BCN is located in Depew and offers a full schedule of support groups, exercise classes, education programs, and outreach for newly diagnosed patients.
