This weekend, Destination Niagara USA and the Conference & Event Center of Niagara Falls are welcoming the largest conference that the City of Niagara Falls has hosted since the Convention and Civic Center closed in 2002.
This Sunday marks the kick-off of the Daughters of the Nile Supreme Temple 2017. Daughters of the Nile is an international fraternal organization for women 18 years or older founded in Seattle in 1913. It has a total of 25,000 members in 136 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada. The members are proud of their long association with Shriners International and their continuing support of Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Approximately 1,800 attendees are arriving in Niagara Falls this weekend and staying at four host hotels for the week in the immediate downtown area. The meetings and sessions for the conference will take place at The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls, as well as well as the Culinary Institute and the Hard Rock Cafe, Niagara Falls USA.
Additionally, Destination Niagara USA is providing complimentary shuttle service through Bedore Tours from the host hotels to various locations throughout the city. Conference attendees will also be embarking on various tours of the Western New York Region. The total estimated economic impact is $2 million.
John Percy, president and CEO of Destination Niagara USA, said, "We are thrilled to welcome the Daughters of the Nile conference to Niagara Falls USA. Being able to attract a conference of this size and prestige is a true testament to the positive growth and development of our destination. We look forward to working with our local partners to continue to attract conferences of this magnitude that contribute so substantially to the local economy."
Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster said, "The efforts of this esteemed body have single-handedly helped to make a difference in the lives of thousands of children and their family across our great nation. The City of Niagara Falls is proud to play host to the Daughters of the Nile and the 101st Supreme Session as they continue to shine a spotlight on such a significant mission."
"The Conference & Event Center sales team has worked hard over the past six years to bring this national conference to our world-renown location," General Manager Jason Murgia said. "Our team eagerly awaits welcoming conference guests - the largest group our venue has ever hosted - with our exceptional customer service, all while bringing an estimated $2 million economic impact to downtown Niagara Falls."
The Daughters of the Nile Conference will run from Sunday, June 11, through Thursday, June 15. All local businesses have been made aware of the incoming conference in order to be properly prepared with staff as well as various coupons and offers in an effort to welcome this large group.
