Grand Island Relay For Life to set sail

The 2017 Grand Island Relay For Life will set sail for the adventure of a lifetime beginning at 4 p.m.
The fundraiser for the American Cancer Society this year has a pirate theme of "X Marks the Cure." The goal is to raise $130,000 to go toward finding a cure for cancer.
This year's schedule of events includes:
•4 p.m. - event opens and includes DJ music, announcements, and a character dance party
•5:30 to 5:50 p.m. - The Arden Rochez Irish Dancers will perform.
•6 to 6:45 p.m. - The opening ceremony will include a performance of the national anthem by Doug Allen.
√ The Survivor Lap - The first lap will celebrate everyone who's been affected by cancer. Whether someone's been diagnosed for 10 days or been cancer-free for 10 years, they gather together for the crowd to cheer them on.
√ Caregivers Lap - Caregivers, often walking with the person they've supported, will take an honorary walk.
•7 to 7:20 p.m. - The McCarthy School of Irish Dance will perform.
•7:25 to 8:05 p.m. - Rob Bilson, national recording artist, will perform.
•8:10 to 9 p.m. - Nate Cronk
•9 to 9:40 p.m. Elektra Fire Performer will entertain in the midfield.
•9:45 to 10:10 p.m. - The Luminaria Ceremony will take place, led by the Mackenzie Highlanders Pipers. Each Luminaria bag that rings the track represents a loved one lost to cancer, brings support to those affected by it, and honors survivors.
•10:15 p.m. to midnight - Soul Adventure Project will perform.
•Midnight - The Closing Ceremony will celebrate all that the teams have accomplished together.
