Niagara University's College of Business Administration has had its accreditation extended by AACSB International, a hallmark of excellence in business education earned by less than 5 percent of the world's business schools.

Having first received AACSB accreditation in 2001, Niagara has continued to expand the quality of its teaching environment and curricula, while advancing efforts to develop academic programs in partnership with global business leaders.

Niagara University's College of Business Administration currently offers undergraduate degree programs in accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing, with concentrations in specialized areas such as fraud examination, economic crime, supply chain management and food marketing. The College of Business Administration also offers an M.S. in finance and an MBA program with several concentrations.

"This distinction reflects the excellence of Niagara University's business programs and the exceptional quality of our faculty," said the Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., president of Niagara University. "At Niagara, we are committed to developing students who are prepared to work and serve in today's dynamic, global business environment, and the remarkable success of our graduates is a testament to our professors' abilities to cultivate their talents."

Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. There are 786 business schools in 53 countries and territories that have earned AACSB accreditation.

In April, CEO Magazine ranked Niagara University's MBA programs among the best in the world. Dr. Tenpao Lee, interim dean of NU's College of Business Administration, said such rankings and accreditations validate the excellent work that the college's faculty and staff do to ensure the success of students and graduates.

"International accreditation to this standard enhances student recruitment, further elevates the high value of our graduates' degrees and keeps Niagara University's business school in elite company in higher education," Lee said.

Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal review, engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor and peer review. During this multiyear continuous improvement review process, schools focus on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB's accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.

"AACSB commends Niagara University for its exemplary work in holding the highest honor in business school accreditation," said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. "During this peer-review process, schools must demonstrate alignment with AACSB's global accreditation standards, as well as how they encourage engagement, innovation, and impact across the communities they serve."

As the world's largest business education alliance, AACSB connects educators, students and business to achieve a common goal: to create the next generation of great leaders. Synonymous with the highest standards of excellence since 1916, AACSB provides quality assurance, business education intelligence, and professional development services to over 1,500 member organizations and more than 785 accredited business schools worldwide. AACSB's mission is to foster engagement, accelerate innovation and amplify impact in business education. Additional information is available at www.aacsb.edu.
