3 sessions of Art Camp; Rock Camp returns; new Theater Academy

Artpark and Company's annual summer camp offerings for children and teens to explore their inner artist, rock star or performer are open for registration. This year, offerings include three sessions of Art Camp, one two-week Rock Camp program, and an unprecedented four-week intensive Artpark Theater Academy. Visit www.artpark.net for more information or to register a child.

Artpark Art Camp

July 10-14, 17-21, 24-28; ages 9-14

Campers will explore their creative minds with artist-led workshops, including drawing and painting inspired by Buffalo artist Chuck Tingley; ceramics with Leeann Catanzaro; kinetic sculpture, puppetry and craft art with Buffalo artist Ani Hoover; and photography.

Art Camp is $250 per session, and runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. On the final day of camp, family and friends are invited to attend an art show, where the young artists will display their original creations. As a special bonus, the Albright Knox Gallery will exhibit some art from the camp for the month of August. Campers who participate will receive a pass for admission into Albright Knox to view the art for the entire month of August.

Artpark Rock Camp

Aug. 7-18; ages 12-17

Artpark's Rock Camp focuses on real music industry production. This two-week session will help prepare young musicians for a career in music. Lewiston Music's Tony Petrocelli directs the camp. Campers will get the opportunity to form bands, write and record an original album, learn how to interpret music by others, and gain knowledge about the music business. The camp culminates with a concert for family friends.

Rock Camp is $475 per musician, and takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. The workshop is open to, but not limited to: bass, vocals, guitar, percussion and keyboard. A nonrefundable $150 deposit is required upon registration; the remaining balance is due by June 15.

Artpark Theater Academy

July 10- Aug. 5

Participants will shine on stage in a full production of "Fiddler on the Roof Jr." created, designed and performed by academy students. This four-week program is directed by Paschal Frisina III and explores all aspects of musical theater, including acting, vocals, dancing, scenic design and promotion.

Theater Academy is $895 per attendee, and runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. All levels of experience are accepted. A nonrefundable $150 deposit is required upon registration; the remaining balance is due by June 15. A 25 percent or 50 percent "sibling discount" is available for each sibling registered after the first child is paid for at full tuition.
