Virtuoso reappointed to NCCC board of trustees

Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently reappointed Gina I. Virtuoso of Niagara Falls to a seat on the Niagara County Community College board of trustees. Virtuoso was initially appointed in 2009 and completed her first term in June 2016.

Virtuoso serves as the finance secretary for the board and is chair of the board of trustees finance committee. She serves as the board of trustees liaison to the Middle States Association self-study steering committee. Virtuoso also participates in numerous trustee continuing education meetings. She serves as a director on the NCCC Foundation board.

Virtuoso's seven-year appointment runs through June 30, 2023.

Virtuoso was a 20-year employee at Occidental Chemical Corp. She held positions of senior corporate accountant, cost accountant, general accountant and various other accounting positions.

Virtuoso was a member of the Professional Accountants and Biltmore Who's Who, a three-year member of the St. Francis Guild board of directors, a four-year chairman of the Festival of Sweets, a United Way volunteer, a volunteer for former Sen. Hillary Clinton, co-chairperson for the Niagara Catholic Jr./Sr. High School auction, and a member of Niagara Catholic Jr./Sr. High School Parent Association.

Virtuoso has a bachelor's degree in business administration, with a major in accounting, from Niagara University. Her husband, Dennis, is the minority leader of the Niagara County Legislature.

The NCCC board of trustees is comprised of 10 members, four of whom are appointed by the governor, five of whom are appointed by the Niagara County Legislature, and one student trustee who is annually elected by the student body.
