North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur G. Pappas has extended thanks to Jesse Gooch, proprietor of Painters Plus, for his role in organizing this year's Project H.O.P.E. home makeover event. This year's winners, Thomas and Estelle Stobnicki, had the entire exterior of their home repainted by employees of Painters Plus and volunteers.

"We look forward to helping another family every year," Gooch said. "We went over all the applications. It's tough to only pick one winner, but Thomas and Estelle fit what we were looking for - they were in need and I think we made a big difference here today."

"This year's event went great; the house looks amazing," Pappas said. "What Jesse does for disadvantaged people is truly wonderful, and we are blessed to have such a wonderful company here in North Tonawanda giving back to the community."

Pappas announced this year's Gooch Fest, presented by 97 Rock, will take place from 3-11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Oppenheim County Park in Wheatfield. The annual concert, organized by Gooch, started as a summer backyard party and has since outgrown the neighborhood. The event is open to those 18 years of age and older.

This year's Gooch Fest will be headlined by Dizzy Reed of Guns N' Roses fame. He'll play a set consisting of Guns N' Roses favorites. Supporting acts for the show will be Arlow Price, Bar King Spiders, River Rocks Band, I4NI and Tom Bender.

Additionally, local food trucks Lloyd Taco, Just Pizza, The Cheesy Chick, The Nut Hut and Jack Devine's will be on site.

Partial proceeds from Gooch Fest are donated every year to a charity chosen through an online poll. This year's proceeds are going to WNY Heroes (www.wnyheroes.com).

Additional information, including ticket pricing, can be found at www.goochfest.com. Prospective sponsors can email [email protected] with your business name, phone number and contact information, or call Painters Plus at 716-693-7587 and ask for Melanie.
