Incumbent Republican trustees Nick Conde and Dan Gibson narrowly defeated Democrat challengers Jamie Symmonds and Keith "Casey" Ahlas in Tuesday's Village of Lewiston election. Conde was the top vote-getter with 185, followed by Gibson (163), Symmonds (156) and Ahlas (112).

More than 315 ballots were cast. The term of office is four years.

"It was a very calm and civil (race); a little tense and nervous just because of how it is," Conde said. "But back to work."

"It was a little nerve-wracking at times," Gibson said. "You're always second-guessing yourself that you haven't done enough."

"We want to support the people that voted for us, and appreciate it, and thank them," Conde said.

Of the voters who chose Symmonds and/or Ahlas, Conde said, "We hope we can make them happy next time."

Both Conde and Gibson have been outspoken on the Ellicott Development plaza plan and James Jerge's proposal to build at the former Fairchild Manor nursing home site, seeking to ensure the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals address resident concerns.

"These projects have been going on, and we've pretty much been in the loop through the whole thing," Gibson said. "We'd all like to see it through, and I'm glad the voters voted ... to let us see this thing though."

Conde was first elected in 2012. Gibson was appointed to replace Dennis Brochey in January 2014, and was re-elected in June of that year.
