Assemblyman John D. Ceretto, D-Lewiston, today offered new details on millions of dollars in new funding for roads throughout the 145th Assembly District. The transportation money, appropriated in the recently passed 2016-17 New York state budget, will be used to replace, rehabilitate, pave and maintain state and local roads - and will become a source of seasonal jobs in the region.

"Millions of cars and trucks carry passengers and freight through our area every year, and the roads they travel on are in constant need of maintenance," Ceretto said. "This infrastructure can't be taken for granted; it takes a lot of hard work to keep Western New York moving."

The PAVE NY and Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPs) funding is granted to individual towns, cities, villages and counties. Together, these programs represent a renewed commitment to transportation that will have pronounced effects on the local economy, Ceretto said.

Local municipalities within the 145th Assembly District will receive a combined $3.32 million between the two programs. In addition, Niagara County will receive $2,671,941.55 and Erie County will receive $10,867,605.84.

Each municipality will receive the following:

"These road projects bring good, well-paying jobs to our area," Ceretto said. "This money is being directly invested in our community and our people, and it's yet another example of how this new budget works to move us forward."
