Girl Scout Troop No. 70145 reminds residents it will sponsor a donation drive from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, to benefit Mario's Pet Food Pantry. This event will be held at Grandpaws Pet Emporium at 402 Center St., Lewiston.

Mario's Pet Food Pantry is a pet-only food pantry operating in several locations within Niagara County. Paulette Coty founded the pantry in 2012 in honor of her late son, Mario D'Antuono, who unconditionally loved animals.

Mario's benefits military personnel, low-income families and homebound individuals. Those eligible to benefit from the pantry must provide identification, current pet vaccination records and spay/neuter certification. Although Mario's has eligibility requirements, no one is refused a donation, as long as there is enough food offered to everyone.

Girl Scout Troop No. 70145 will be present at Grandpaws Pet Emporium to collect pet donations. Donations of cat and dog food (full and partial bags accepted), cat and dog treats (full and partial bags accepted), toys, beds, blankets, towels, grooming supplies, shampoo, leashes and harnesses are greatly appreciated.

If your pet does not like a food or treat, consider donating to Mario's instead of discarding.

For more information, contact troop leader Emma Hartloff at 716-745-3256 or email [email protected].
