Goldfarb Financial donates $2,500 to City of Buffalo Animal Shelter as a part of inaugural holiday giveaway

More than 7,000 votes were received during the two-week competition period

Goldfarb Financial presented City of Buffalo Animal Shelter with a $2,500 check for winning the inaugural "Goldfarb Holiday Giveaway" on Wednesday. After two weeks of a competitive public voting process, City of Buffalo Animal Shelter trumped the four other charities and received 7,011 votes, a 53 percent total majority from the 13,283 votes cast.

As a part of Goldfarb's impact investing model, the "Goldfarb Holiday Giveaway" demonstrated how a marriage between capitalism and community consciousness could encourage socially responsible investing.

In addition to the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter on Oak Street, other charities that participated in the "Goldfarb Holiday Giveaway" contest included Child and Family Services, Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology, Cantalician Center and Say Yes To Education Buffalo.

"Friends of CBAS is thrilled to accept Goldfarb Financial's donation of $2,500, which will be used to supplement the high quality of care that animals receive during their time at the shelter," said Susan Herzog, treasurer of Friends of City of Buffalo Animal Shelter.

Friends of CBAS consists of more than 100 active volunteers. In addition to working with shelter staff to promote the shelter's successful adoption program, Friends of CBAS performs community outreach, provides foster care for animals in need, and performs fundraising on behalf of the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter.

Financial assistance provided to the shelter covers emergency medical care for animals in need as well as the purchase of collars, leashes, treats, toys and other enrichment items. In the past, Friends of CBAS has provided funding for an off-leash dog play area, grooming table and supplies, commercial washer and dryer, and renovations to seating in the meet-and-greet room.
