Community Missions will have its annual antiques and fine arts auction Sunday, Nov. 8, at the First Presbyterian Church in Youngstown, 100 Church St.

Viewing of auction items will start at 12:15 p.m. and the auction will start at 1 p.m. There will be a sampling of "heavy hors d'oeuvres" before the auction. Admission is $10 per person or $15 per couple. The auction will benefit the crisis services program and Mark's Place (HIV/AIDS residence) at Community Missions.

More than 200 items will be auctioned. Items consist of military memorabilia, including a World War II uniform and a WWI helmet; antique furniture, including a Stickley child's rocker; Native American items; antique samplers; paintings; art glass; dolls; mirrors; sports memorabilia; and hundreds of other items.

The auction also will include two original pages in Latin from the 1497 Nuremberg-printed Bible by Anton Koberger, printer of the Nuremberg Chronicle.

In addition to the auction, there will be flea market. A special part of the flea market will be a purse table with over 200 designer purses being sold for $5 each. Brand names include Coach, Liz Claiborne, Gucci, Guess and Louis Vuitton. There will be six tables of flea items with prices ranging from $2 to $5. A jewelry table will feature antiques and contemporary pieces.

Community Missions provides social services to thousands of disadvantaged people in Niagara County. Each year, more than 75,000 meals are provided in its soup kitchen; about 700 people including children are sheltered in its homeless shelter. The agency also provides shelter and care to at-risk youth and provides residential, rehabilitative, vocational and socialization services to more than 1,000 individuals with mental illness.
