Six new Distinguished Student Scholarship recipients will be showcased at the annual NCCC Foundation Scholarship Gala on Oct. 17 at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.

This award is the most prestigious scholarship offered by the NCCC Foundation to incoming freshmen. It provides two years of tuition-free education to deserving students. The individuals were selected based on their academic excellence, service to the community and loyalty to Niagara County.

"This scholarship is more than assistance with my education. The scholarship gives me the ability to experience a lifetime of giving and I thank you for that," said Natalie Pilski, a 2015 Distinguished Student Scholar recipient.

Steven Sass, another recipient, said, "This scholarship is incredibly valuable to me and my education. After obtaining my degree, I plan to work as a nurse and to continue the learning process for the rest of my life."

During the 2014-15 academic year, more than $160,000 was awarded to nearly 200 deserving students. Visit the NCCC website at www.niagaracc.suny.edu/scholarships for a full listing of scholarships. The deadline to apply for spring 2015 scholarships is Oct. 23.

In addition to private and corporate donations, scholarship opportunities are also supported by the annual NCCC Foundation Scholarship Gala, the single largest fundraiser for student scholarships. The event will take place Oct. 17 at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute; tickets are $125 per person. NCCC Culinary and Pastry Arts students will prepare dishes that will feature new twists on American classics.

To purchase tickets and make reservations, visit the NCCC Foundation website at www.niagaracc.suny.edu/foundation or call the office at 716-614-5910.
