King of the Hill changed

Ransomville Speedway management has announced the Alex Friesen Summer Nationals Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series, rained out Aug. 4, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 2.

That evening, the Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified stars will return to take on the stout Ransomville Speedway 358 Modified field. Those in attendance prior to the rainout included point leader Matt Sheppard, Billy Decker, Brett Hearn, Stewart Friesen, Larry Wight and Gary Tomkins.

Look for all of these drivers to return in September for the 31st annual event. All rain checks from Aug. 4 will be honored. For those unable to return, contact the Big R office at 791-3602 to make other arrangements.

In addition to the Big Block Modified Series, a full card of Investors Services Sportman and Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers is slated that evening. Young Explosives will return, as well, with fireworks planned. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., and timed hot laps will begin at 7 p.m. for the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series.

Ransomville Speedway also has announced a major change to its annual King of the Hill event, slated for Saturday, Sept. 19. Rather than its traditional two-day, season-ending event, King of the Hill will now be a one-day affair with a bigger purse offered for drivers.

"In the economic interest of the drivers, we have elected to make it a one-day show on Saturday, Sept. 19, rather than the two-day show ran in previous years," co-promoter Jamie Friesen said. "Less laps for a bigger purse will save the teams financially and hopefully increase the car count for Saturday's event."

Investors Services and L.O.E. Trailer Sales will present an action-packed day of racing on Saturday, Sept. 19, to complete the 2015 season. Slated for competition are: Investors Services Sportsman $1,500 to Win 75 Laps; Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks $1,500 to Win 75 Laps; Parts Plus ProStock Series $500 to Win 25 Laps; Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers, 12 Laps; and Van Raine Construction Novice Sportsman 15 Laps. The champions in both the Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers and Van Raine Construction Novice Sportsman will be crowned on Saturday as well. Friday's program has been cancelled.

"The drivers talked and we listened," PR Director Tana Robinson said. "The King of the Hill event has become a great tradition at the speedway. We certainly did not want to see that change, however, with the increasing costs of everything, we thought change was in order. Between the increased purse, lap money and potential added bonus awards, this year's event is sure to help us end the 2015 season on a big note."

Each Ki-Po Chevrolet KOH SS heat winner will receive a free American Racer tire and each Investors Services Sportsman heat winner will receive a free Hoosier tire, compliments of Ransomville Speedway and Hoosier Tire.

Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, with racing slated for 6 p.m.
