Wheatfield board rezones two properties

Sat, Aug 15th 2015 09:20 am

After two public hearings, the Wheatfield Town Board voted Aug. 10 to proceed with rezoning two Niagara Falls Boulevard properties as all commercial.

The properties that are affected are 2968 Niagara Falls Blvd. (Bedore Tours) and 3939 Niagara Falls Blvd. (Adventure Landing).

Town Supervisor Robert Cliffe said that the former had been split commercial and residential and the latter had been divided into commercial and three other classifications. Many properties along Niagara Falls Boulevard are split in this way; the town has been looking into rezoning many as commercial.

The board also:

•Voted to continue discussions on three or four new cell towers proposed for town property. The board has expressed interest, but has not agreed to the proposal yet.

"One of the things I'd like to see is where they intend to put the towers," Cliffe said. " ... It could be a nice little revenue stream for the town as long as they're in the right areas."

•Authorized the highway department to begin the process of purchasing two new town dump/plow trucks, subject to final board approval and financing decisions.

The next board meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 24.

•OK'd public improvement plans for 14-home subdivisions.
