Rose to launch 'Fresh Start Campaign'

Third-generation Lewiston resident Jeffrey V. Rose has announced his intention to enter the upcoming Republican Primary for the office of Lewiston highway superintendent. In doing so, he is asking for the support of all village and town residents, and that they register their vote for his "Fresh Start" 2015 campaign.

Rose said the term "fresh start" rises from the need to relieve the gridlock that has plagued Town Hall as it applies to the highway department for the past several years. He said the town sorely needs to repair its public image.

"We are all too familiar with the earmarks. The 'white elephant' that was known as the Lewiston Recreation Center. The fiasco of Joseph Davis Park and the untenable financial predicament faced by the taxpayers as a result," Rose said. "Let's not forget the case of the pilfered gasoline missing from pumps located at the Lewiston Highway Department itself. These are just a few of the more public events surrounding Town Hall and the Highway Department in recent history."

Rose said residents have told him tax dollars have either been wasted outright or put at extreme risk by the powers that be in Town Hall. He said residents are sick of reading about investigations of their own duly elected management team in Town Hall.

Rose has pledged to cleanup and revitalize the highway department, giving the town a "fresh start" by using the same unique, proven and successful management style he employed as CEO and chief operating officer of his own multimillion-dollar corporation, Rose Industrial Services.

This company, which operated from 1975 to 2003, was conceived and established by Rose from nothing more than a simple welding machine pulled behind the family vehicle. From that simple start, RIS became a multimillion-dollar operation servicing the entire East Coast and Midwest - from Maine to Texas, and everything in between.

Rose was born in Lewiston April 9, 1955, to parents William Rose and Joanne Vana Rose. His first experience with his trademark work ethic started as a 7-year-old boy cutting lawns and shoveling snow for his neighbors.

Hard work runs in his family. Rose's father, William, worked for the town's Water Department for 25-plus years. His mother, Joanne, spent 22-plus years in Town Hall when it was located in the Historic Lewiston Opera Hall on Center Street. His grandparents, Bessie and Joseph Vana, spent more than 5 years with the Lewiston phone company (Bell Telephone).

As a young man, Rose was an NHL prospect - a goalie within the Boston Bruins organization. Later on in his career, he became a Boy Scout leader for Lewiston Troop 855, a Ruling Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Lewiston and a Master Mason with Lodge 551 in Ransomville.

Rose has always been dedicated to the Town of Lewiston and to maintaining a strong work ethic.

Rose is no stranger to personal crisis. In January 2003, he suffered a massive stroke, which sent him to Johns Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore for four months of treatment. He was told at the time that he might never walk or even talk again.

His world crumbling around him, Rose was determined to do both again. Not in his nature to give up on anything, he has worked hard to bring normalcy back to his life, rededicating himself to a "fresh start" in his personal life.

Rose pledges to bring a "fresh start" to the Highway Department, just as he has done in his personal life. Both goals complement each other for the goals, he said, are indeed the same.
