The Grand Island Town Board thanked its colleagues across Town Hall Monday with the issuance of a town proclamation noting Municipal Clerk's Week May 3 to 9.

In making the proclamation, the Town Board noted the office of municipal clerk is "a time-honored and vital part of local government, exists throughout the world and is the oldest among public servants." Further, the board said municipal clerks provide "the professional link between citizens, the local governing bodies and agencies of government at other levels," and have "pledged to be ever mindful of their neutrality and impartiality, rendering equal service to all."

Municipal clerks "serve as the information center on functions of local government and community," and continually strive to improve the administration of duties "through participation in education programs, seminars, workshops and the annual meeting of their state, province, county and international professional organizations."

The board resolved to recognize Town Clerk Patricia Frentzel and deputy town clerks Karen Cooney, Sally Kaiser, Betty Lantz Becky Stufkosky and Wendy Valint during Municipal Clerk's Week "and thanked them for their dedicated service throughout the year."
