Candidates interested in a seat on the Grand Island Board of Education must file nominating petitions with District Clerk Janet Schuster by 4 p.m. April 20.
Twenty-five valid signatures of district residents are required on a petition. Forms are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the district office, located at 1100 Ransom Road.
There are three three-year terms available.
The qualifications to run for the Board of Education are:
•Must be a citizen of the United States
•Must be at least 18 years of age
•Must be a resident of the district for one year prior to the election
•Must be able to read and write.
The School Board election and budget vote will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, in the high school main gym.
