University at Buffalo President Satish K. Tripathi released the following statement on the men's basketball team's first-ever game in the NCAA Tournament:

"I couldn't be more proud of our players and coaches - and our student-athletes should take incredible pride and motivation from what they've achieved. Once you stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the very best collegiate basketball players in the nation, you know you can achieve greatness in all of life's pursuits with hard work, determination and spirit.

"The season has been inspiring for our student-athletes and for Bulls fans everywhere - truly UB basketball at its best. It has been terrific to see so many fans throughout the year rooting for the Bulls - from UB stadium to Cleveland and Columbus, from Dallas to Tokyo. Our Bulls have given us a lot to cheer about throughout an incredible season, and they've achieved a milestone that has shined a spotlight on UB and our athletics program. Congratulations to Director of Athletics Danny White, coach Bobby Hurley and the entire men's basketball team - and go Bulls!"

UB lost to West Virginia, 68-62, Friday afternoon.
