North Tonawanda's Common Council got a little glimpse of summer at Tuesday's work session when the organizer behind the annual Webster Street concert series stopped by to discuss this year's event.

The session was a little fuller than usual as a group of seniors from North Tonawanda High School dropped in as part of a government class, leading to its relocation from the second floor meeting room to the first floor Common Council chambers.

The sole agenda item was from Greg Doul, president of Crazy Jakes Inc., who requested the council's assistance in the fourth annual free Webster Street concert series.

Prior to Doul's arrival, Council President Russ Rizzo read the letter Doul submitted to the council, which included the musician lineup. The originally scheduled tribute bands were Guns 4 Roses, Nerds Gone Wild, Highway 2 Hell (met with enthusiasm from the students), Heart Brigade, Never Stop Believin' and Mr. Speed.

When Doul arrived, Rizzo joked, "They were all disappointed, like me, that we're not having Barry Manilow." (The adults in the room laughed; a few of the younger faces were left confused).

Of course, Doul later mentioned a few lineup changes, including replacing Heart Brigade with Lotus Land and removing Guns 4 Roses because of scheduling conflicts, though no replacement had been chosen yet. The other aldermen were happy to comfort Rizzo with the knowledge a spot remained open.

As to the specifics of the event,
